Kia completely redesigned the Telluride for 2027, and the changes go well beyond a fresh coat of paint. With a new turbocharged engine, nine trim levels, an available hybrid powertrain, and a cabin loaded with upgraded tech, this second-generation Telluride looks ready to shake up the three-row SUV segment all over again.

  • Under the hood, a new 2.5L turbocharged four-cylinder produces 274 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque, with a 329 hp turbo-hybrid option arriving alongside it.
  • Nine trims span from the $39,190 LX to the trail-ready $56,790 X-Pro SX Prestige, giving buyers a wide range of price points and feature sets.
  • Up to 29 driver assistance and collision avoidance features come available across the lineup, along with dual 12.3-inch displays and a 12-inch head-up display on upper trims.

A Ground-Up Redesign

When the original Telluride debuted for 2020, it earned a massive following almost overnight, winning awards and flying off dealer lots as fast as they arrived. Kia took that momentum and ran with it for the 2027 model year. This isn’t a mid-cycle refresh. Every major element got reworked, from the platform to the powertrain to the interior layout.

On the outside, the 2027 Telluride wears a bolder front grille flanked by redesigned LED headlights. Auto pop-out door handles give the SUV a cleaner side profile. Wheels range from 19 inches on the LX up to 21 inches on X-Line and SX models. New color options include Panthera Metal, Terrain Brown Matte, Black Jade Green, and Wolf Gray.

New Turbo Power and a Hybrid Option

Gone is the old naturally aspirated 3.8L V6. In its place sits a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder putting out 274 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. Towing capacity hits 5,000 pounds, and EPA-estimated fuel economy comes in at 20 city, 26 highway, and 22 combined for front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive drops those numbers slightly to 18/24/20.

Kia’s turbo-hybrid version pairs that same 2.5L turbo with a hybrid system for 329 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque. With front-wheel drive, the hybrid EX is estimated at 35 MPG combined, and Kia says total range could stretch to 637 miles on a single tank. Towing drops to 4,500 pounds with the hybrid, but that trade-off looks reasonable for the fuel savings.

Nine Trims From Practical to Trail-Ready

Kia really spread out the trim lineup this time around. Starting at $39,190 MSRP, the LX comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, navigation, heated front seats, a power liftgate, roof rails, and eight-passenger seating. Stepping up to the S ($42,090) swaps in captain’s chairs, ventilated front seats, full SynTex seat trim, and power-folding mirrors. At $43,790, the EX adds a heated steering wheel, while the X-Line EX ($47,290) bundles AWD with terrain mode, 21-inch wheels, and X-Line styling.

At the SX level ($48,790), you get dual 12.3-inch displays, Meridian premium audio, a 360-degree surround view camera, and Highway Driving Assist 2. Bump to the SX Prestige at $53,890 for a digital rearview mirror, 12-inch head-up display, and heated and ventilated second-row seats. Sitting at the top of the lineup, the X-Pro SX Prestige ($56,790) packs 9.1 inches of ground clearance, all-terrain tires, an electronic limited-slip differential, and four recovery hooks. That’s a lot of off-road gear baked into a family hauler.

Inside the Cabin

Kia claims class-leading second-row legroom, and higher trims offer two-tone SynTex suede seat combinations in colors like Deep Navy and Tuscan Umber or Saddle Brown and Millstone. Tri-zone automatic climate control comes standard everywhere, with ceiling-mounted rear vents keeping third-row passengers comfortable. Every trim also includes Kia Connect, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and USB charging ports throughout.

Loaded with Safety Tech

Even the base LX ships with blind-spot collision warning, forward collision warning, lane keeping assist, smart cruise control with stop-and-go, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, and a rear occupant alert with radar sensors. SX trims and above add evasive steering assist, junction crossing detection, and the blind-spot view monitor. Kia’s 10-year, 100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty backs the whole thing up.

Is the 2027 Telluride Worth the Wait?

If you’ve been eyeing three-row SUVs and waiting for the right moment, the 2027 Telluride makes a strong case. That turbo four-cylinder returns better fuel economy than the old V6, and the hybrid option adds even more flexibility. Nine trims mean you can find something that fits whether you’re hauling kids to soccer practice or loading up for a camping trip. For anyone doing a 2027 Kia Telluride preview: updates, design, tech & what to expect all point toward a well-rounded package that earned its redesign.
