All electric vehicle models can charge their batteries in three different ways. Level 1 chargers are the slowest. They plug into 120v wall outlets, taking 10.5 to 68+ hours to fully charge a PHEV or EV.

Level 2 chargers are much faster. They can charge a PHEV in 3.5 hours and an EV in 7.5 hours. You can find them at public charging stations and have them installed at home. Level 3 chargers are DC fast chargers, and they are only available at certain public charging stations.

The length of time it takes to charge your Kia EV will depend on its electric car range and what type of charger you use. PHEVs can take anywhere from 3.5 hours to charge at a Level 2 station to 10.5 hours with a Level 1 charging cable.

EVs can charge in 18-75 minutes at Level 3 charging stations but can also take as long as 7.5 hours to charge on a Level 2 charger or 68 hours with a Level 1 cord.

Charging your EV at home is simple. It just takes a little setup. If you have a BEV, you should hire an electrician to install a Level 2 charging station. A Level 1 home charger may be sufficient for keeping a PHEV’s battery topped off.
