Why Rotate Tires?

Tire rotation is necessary because of one simple reason: your tires take different patterns of wear depending on their position. While this may seem counterintuitive since all four wheels go to the same place, a tire on the outside of a turn can take more wear than the tire on the inside because it travels further. This and many other small factors cause your four different wheel positions to have four different patterns of wear, and rotating the tires allows new patterns of wear to encounter your tire and prevent it from wearing through in one specific area.

Timing Your Tire Rotation

Tire rotations should happen about every time you get an oil change, as recommended by Kia. This means that around every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, you should be rotating your tires, giving them the new position and new pattern of wear frequently. After four rotations, each tire will have taken, on average, the same wear as the other tires, evening out the wear and preventing any one tire from giving out from the strain of a particularly burdensome wear pattern.
